The Secret Garden by Grand Canal
2024-08-13
Six years ago, a documentary titled "Masters in Forbidden City" that recorded the restoration process of rare cultural relics in the Forbidden City, garnered immense social response by closely presenting the restoration process and the daily life of restoration experts, their craftsmanship, and professional beliefs. Following the success of "Masters in Forbidden City," a series of documentaries titled “The Secret Garden by Grand Canal" and its related projects were launched six years later. Suzhou is rich in intangible cultural heritage resources, with the ingenuity of Suzhou craftsmen permeating through generations and deeply embedded in the daily life of the past and present. "The Secret Garden by Grand Canal” allows the world to experience the lifestyle and regional character of Suzhou within the living intangible cultural heritage, to delve into the historical context of Suzhou's intangible cultural heritage, and thus to explore new forms of intangible cultural heritage. It reconnects the relationship between young people and intangible cultural heritage, redefines the revival and renewal of traditional culture, and allows the "Suzhou lifestyle" to enter the spiritual world of contemporary Chinese youth. It records the new integration of Suzhou's intangible cultural heritage, cultural trends, and history.
